On April 28, 2023, a cultural and educational event was held at the Public Security University on the occasion of the International Day of the Chinese Language. The organizers of the festival were the Department of “Language Studies” of the University of Public Security of the Republic of Uzbekistan, co-organizer: Uzbek-Chinese Confucius Institute at TSUOS. The purpose of the event: to encourage multilingualism and cultural diversity in the Republic, as well as to popularize the Chinese language and culture in Uzbekistan. To emphasize the importance of the Chinese language in the world language system and the significance of the Chinese language for global cultural exchange and understanding, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2010 announced the establishment of the International Day of the Chinese Language. On November 12, 2010, the United Nations held the first Chinese Language Day celebration at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Since then, International Chinese Language Day has been observed every year on April 20. There are currently about 1.4 billion Chinese speakers in the world, which is equivalent to one in five people in the world. Chinese is also a language with an ancient history and rich cultural heritage, whose global influence is growing day by day. International Chinese Language Day also provides an opportunity to promote the spread and popularization of the Chinese language and culture around the world, help people understand the history, traditions and values of the Chinese language and culture, thereby expanding the knowledge and understanding of the Chinese language and culture. Overall, International Chinese Language Day is an opportunity to show the world the diversity and uniqueness of Chinese culture, as well as a platform to promote international cultural exchange and understanding. The program began with an introductory congratulatory speech by the rector of the University of Public Security, Doctor of Law, prof. M.Kh. Rustambaev and director of the Confucius Institute from the Chinese side prof. Yang Shihu. The program included such aspects as songs and poems in Chinese, performed by university cadets; presentations of the arts of calligraphy, Wushu mastery, as well as a tea ceremony and a de-file of Chinese national dresses.
