The department of physical training and sports was established during the higher courses under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the former Union, and from 1991 to 2017 it was under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tashkent Higher Military-Technical Educational Institution, from 2017 to 2021 the Military-Technical Institute under the jurisdiction of the National Guard, and from 2021 to the present day the Republic of Uzbekistan It has been working as a public security university.

During the period of the MIA Tashkent Higher Military-Technical Educational Institution, cadets were trained in the subject "Physical Preparation" taught at the Department of Physical Training and Sports, depending on the direction of their education, and in the educational institution's sports complex. There were no separate halls for sports. This situation continued during the Military Technical Institute.

In 2021, after the transformation of the Military-Technical Institute into the University of Public Security of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the teaching hours of the "Physical Fitness" subject taught at the department were equalized for cadets studying in all directions, students studying at the Special Faculty "Physical education and sports" subject was introduced for students, and "Special physical training" subject was introduced for part-time students.

Sections on the permanent structure of the university, cadets, and sports that students are engaged in have been increased. These are hand-to-hand combat and boxing, sambo, triathlon, rugby, volleyball, football, shooting sports, multi-sport and athletics, functional multi-sport, equestrian sports, archery, chess and table tennis.

During the past period, the department has been successful in improving the educational process, in the development of mass physical education and sports at the University, in raising the flag of our country to the highest heights in world sports competitions, in training highly qualified specialists for all systems of the Armed Forces of our Republic. work has been done.

From 2020 to the present, associate professor Karimov Khasan Raimovich, who has been acting as the head of the department, continues these traditions and under his leadership, further improves the conditions for the physical training and sports of the university personnel to engage in physical training and sports. A number of works are being carried out to raise the level of training, to develop the educational and methodological work of the department. Under the leadership of H.R.Karimov, the professors-teachers of the department prepared 2 textbooks, 21 study guides, more than 30 methodological developments, developed the educational material and technical base, turned it into a new modern textbook, teaching and learning special attention is also paid to enrichment work with training manuals and simulators.

The department has created sufficient conditions for physical training and sports training and for all personnel to practice sports. There is a wrestling hall, a wrestling hall, a swimming pool, and outside the sports complex there is a football stadium, mini-football, basketball, volleyball, workout, gymnastics, gymnasiums, and a long jump track.

To date, the University national team has participated in various sports competitions and won 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 5 bronze medals at the World Championship, 9 gold medals, 8 silver medals, 4 bronze medals at the Asian Championship, 51 medals at national championships. won gold medals, 67 silver and 89 bronze medals.

In 2021-2023, 25 military personnel became owners of "Alvon beret" at the university. 18 of them are university cadets.

In 2023-2024, 10 military personnel of the University have successfully passed the intensive tests of the "Courageous Warrior" held in accordance with the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-40 of December 10, 2021. became the owners of the badge.

To date, 28 candidates for master of sports, 17 masters of sports and 9 masters of sports of international category have graduated from the military athletes of the University.

The main goal of the department is to train specialists for the National Guard, Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan who are comprehensively developed and loyal, devoted to their homeland, who feel their responsibility to the people, society and family, national and universal. to raise a person who respects values, enriches and strengthens national traditions, and works conscientiously and honestly for the future of our country, to improve and strengthen the health of military personnel and to increase the level of physical and professional training; skillful use of attack and self-defense methods of hand-to-hand combat in the provision of public safety, bravely overcoming physical load, nervous and mental stress and other negative situations that are often encountered in service activities, and making the right decision in non-standard situations to have knowledge and skills necessary for admission.

The main task of the department is to develop and regularly improve the physical qualities of students, such as endurance, strength, quickness and agility, improving physical development, strengthening health and increasing the body's ability to resist the effects of unpleasant factors encountered during military-professional activities, walking in uneven terrain with natural obstacles, overcoming natural and artificial obstacles, special methods of hand-to-hand combat and formation of skills and qualifications for military-practical swimming, formation of organizational-methodical skills and qualifications of students for independent physical training in the future.

Also, the department is responsible for the following tasks:

- Implementation of the educational process in the subjects "Physical training", "Special physical training" and "Physical training and sports" in the form of day education in accordance with the approved curriculum and science curricula;
