A scientific-practical conference on the theme “Language as a Mirror of Nation” was organized by the Department of …

In the process of historical reforms aimed at the comprehensive development of New Uzbekistan and the foundation of the Third Renaissance, significant efforts are being made to promote the learning of the Uzbek language and foreign languages. Currently, six languages (English, German, Chinese, Arabic, Turkish, and Russian) are studying at the University of Public Safety of Uzbekistan, which is commendable. Special classes specializing in the teaching of these foreign languages have been established in the Department of Language Studies, and the educational activities are conducted by foreign specialists and qualified local professors.

On October 18, 2024, the conference “Language as a Mirror of Nation” was held by the Department of Language Studies at the University of Public Safety.

The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the head of the University, Doctor of Science in Law, professor, Colonel M.X. Rustambayev, who emphasized that language is an expression of human culture, and that the uniqueness of each nation is reflected in its language and literature. He noted that language is a lifelong subject of study, a precious art form that blossoms and flourishes over time. As a means of communication, language serves as a scale to measure human excellence, knowledge, and virtues. With over 6,000 languages worldwide, each nation holds its mother tongue dear. He particularly highlighted that for us, our language is a source of pride and honor.

The conference was moderated by Sevinch Hotamboyeva, a student from the 303rd group of the University.

Prominent linguists from our Republic were invited to the conference. Among them, Rustam Sharipov, a doctoral student at Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, director of the Research Center on Jadid Studies, Doctor of Philology, and associate professor at the School of Translation Studies, Linguistics, and International Journalism, participated with his presentation titled “The Genius of Navoi and the Development of the Uzbek Literary Language.” He provided detailed insights into the significance of the works of A. Navoi, the founder of the Uzbek literary language, and addressed questions raised by the participants.

Another speaker, Shakhnoza Asqarova, a linguist and literature scholar, doctoral student of Tashkent State Institute of the Oriental Studies, and PhD in Philology, made a notable impression with her engaging presentation on the theme “The Reflection of Zoonym Lexemes in the Original Text of ‘Alpomish’ and Their Translation into English.” During the conference, Tavakkal Choriyev, a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, a member of the Defense and Security Committee, candidate of philological sciences, and professor, provided valuable insights with his presentation titled “Language as a Mirror of Nation and Spirituality.”

During the conference, A.S. Khursandov, head of the Department of Language Studies, emphasized the importance of respecting the rules and regulations established for conducting affairs in the Uzbek language during students' free time. Following him, Associate Professor N.Dj Shirinova highlighted that deeply studying the Uzbek language and literature is a duty of every student and listener. E.T. Erkayev, a senior teacher of the department, also spoke, urging the younger generation align with their ancestors. After the presentations, a cultural segment organized by the university students included poetry readings and theatrical performances, showcasing the artistic talents of the students.

The conference left a significant impression on both the students of our university and all participants.
