The history of the university dates back to 1980, when it was originally established as the Higher courses of the IIV, and in 1990 it was transformed into the Tashkent higher military technical knowledge land. It was renamed the Military-Technical Institute in 2016 and transferred to the National Guard from 2017.
On the basis of PQ-5077 of April 15, 2021, the University of public security of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established on the basis of the Institute. In 2017, by decree of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan, doctor of legal sciences, professor, Colonel Rustambaev Mirzayusup Khakimovich was appointed head of the Military-Technical Institute of the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
A new system was formed at the Institute in the field of education, training of high-potential personnel, a material technical base, a modern approach to educational and methodological activities and significant results were achieved in scientific research work.
In order to improve the system of training highly qualified specialists in the field of preventing any threats to the peace and tranquility of our country and combating crime on the basis of advanced international standards, as well as to increase the personnel capacity of law enforcement agencies and the Armed Forces, based on the requirements of the time, In accordance with the decree of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 15, 2021 "on measures to further improve the system of training of professional personnel in the field of Public Security"PQ-5077, the Military-Technical Institute of the National Guard was reorganized into the University of public security of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The university is a base higher military educational and research institution that carries out targeted training of qualified personnel.
